Nepal-Oman Bilateral Consultation meeting concludes

Nepal and the Sultanate of Oman concluded the second meeting of the Nepal–Oman Bilateral Consultations in Kathmandu, reaffirming their commitment to expanding diplomatic, economic, and cultural cooperation between the two nations. Led by Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai and Oman’s Undersecretary for Political Affairs  Sheikh Khalifa Al Harthy, the delegations discussed establishing an Embassy of Oman in Kathmandu, creating a Nepal–Oman friendship association, and organizing joint commemorations for the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2027.

 Beyond diplomatic expansion, talks focused on boosting bilateral trade and investment in priority sectors such as hydropower, agriculture, tourism, and health, while also prioritizing enhanced air connectivity and expediting a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Labor and Manpower Exchange to protect the welfare of Nepali workers in Oman.

Additionally, the Nepali delegation briefed Omani officials on the recent devastating floods along the Bhote Koshi River, expressing gratitude for international humanitarian support and seeking continued assistance for long-term recovery and reconstruction efforts
