Narayan Kandel appointed at Attorney general

KATHMANDU – President Ramchandra Paudel has appointed Dr. Narayan Datt Kandel as the Attorney General of Nepal. The appointment was made today upon the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.

Dr. Kandel will serve as the chief legal advisor to the government. In his new role, he is tasked with leading the government prosecutors and overseeing the prosecution of all criminal cases on behalf of the state, ensuring the legal interests of the government are upheld in the court of law.

Dr. Kandel brings a blend of legal and media experience to the office. Most recently, he was noted for serving as a legal advisor to Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), during his high-profile legal proceedings.

Beyond the courtroom, Dr. Kandel has a significant history in journalism and leadership within the media sector. Dr. Kandel is expected to take his oath of office shortly before officially assuming his duties at the Office of the Attorney General.
