The intra-party rift within the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has deepened, as a rival faction led by Dhawal Shamsher Rana has called for the dissolution of the committee headed by Chairman Rajendra Lingden.
The long-standing dispute between the two sides escalated further after the party contested the election for the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR).
Presenting a three-point demand to Chairman Lingden, the rival faction has called for the formation of a convention organizing committee under the leadership of an impartial person to conduct the general convention. They have also demanded that the date for the central general convention be announced within one week.
The faction argues that the party did not perform well in the March 5 elections under Lingden’s leadership. In the 2022 elections, the party had secured 14 seats, while in 2026 it received only 5 seats.
