Kathmandu— Nepal Police confirmed that a total of 1,436 bodies have been recovered across multiple districts following the catastrophic Bhotekoshi flood disaster.
According to an official update released by the Nepal Police Headquarters as of 11:00 AM on Sunday, 1,434 of the retrieved bodies have been accounted for in the primary affected regions. The breakdown across districts includes:
· Chitwan: 365
· Nawalparasi East: 232
· Rasuwa: 223
· Nawalparasi West: 222
· Nuwakot: 203
· Gorkha: 79
· Dhading: 72
· Tanahun: 38
DNA Sampling and Body Management
Authorities stated that 1,292 bodies have been formally managed following DNA sample collection to assist with identification. A total of 3,283 DNA samples have been gathered so far—comprising 1,286 samples taken from the deceased and 1,997 from relatives seeking missing family members.
