Kathmandu — Nepal’s Home Minister, Sudan Gurung, has resigned from his position following mounting criticism over his alleged involvement in share transactions with controversial businessmen under investigation.
Gurung submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Balen Shah, popularly known as Balen, after facing widespread scrutiny over claims of business partnerships and financial dealings. He also announced his decision through social media, stating that he had taken the concerns raised against him seriously.
The Prime Minister had formed the Council of Ministers on the very day he assumed office, appointing Gurung as Home Minister at that time.
In the initial phase of his tenure, Gurung drew public attention for taking action against high-ranking officials. However, in recent weeks, he had become the focus of criticism due to the allegations surrounding his business connections.
The resignation comes amid growing public and political pressure, marking a significant development in Nepal’s current political landscape.
