India has handed over the second tranche of election-related assistance to Nepal, as part of its support for the country’s upcoming elections. The assistance was formally delivered in the presence of Nepal’s Minister for Finance, Rameshore Prasad Khanal, at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Finance in Kathmandu on Thursday.
Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, Rakesh Pandey, ceremonially handed over more than 250 vehicles to the Government of Nepal. The vehicles form part of the assistance requested by Nepal to support logistical preparations for the forthcoming elections.
Speaking at the event, Finance Minister Khanal highlighted the longstanding friendly relations and cooperation between Nepal and India. He thanked the Government and people of India for the timely support, noting its importance in ensuring smooth election preparations.
Earlier, the first tranche of India’s election-related assistance was handed over on Jan 20. According to the Embassy of India, additional supplies will be delivered in batches in the coming weeks.
The Indian Embassy stated that the ongoing cooperation reflects the multi-faceted development partnership between the two neighboring countries and underscores the deep mutual trust and friendship shared by their peoples.
