The government is set to establish a dedicated department for drug control—in the upcoming fiscal year. Minister for Home Affairs Ramesh Lekhak shared this information at a program held to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (June 26). Minister Lekhak said his ministry has been implementing awareness programs and prevention efforts along with provisions of punishment against drug abuse, which is behind various unwanted consequences such as road accidents, suicides and cybercrimes.
