The CPN-UML has announced that it will organize the party’s General Convention in December to elect new leadership. As of now, KP Sharma Oli remains the party’s chief.
The party has also decided to demand the restoration of Parliament and to unite against what it calls the current political regression.
Speaking on the matter, Oli stated that the government was formed unconstitutionally and that there is no conducive environment for holding elections.
“The government is neither prepared nor willing to conduct elections. Those who looted the police station have not been prosecuted, and prisoners who escaped during the jail break have yet to return. In such a lawless atmosphere, how can elections take place?” he questioned.
Party leader Pradeep Kumar Gyawali emphasized that the only solution to the current crisis is the restoration of Parliament.
