Pledged FDI into Nepal grows

Foreign direct investment (FDI) commitments to Nepal increased by 36 percent year-on-year during the first 11 months of the current 2024-25 fiscal year, showed the latest data from the Department of Industry.

The pledged amounts reached 60.6 billion Nepali rupees (441.38 million U.S. dollars) by June 14, as against 44.4 billion rupees (323.34 million dollars) during the first 11 months of 2023-24.

The committed investments went to 717 projects with a target of generating 17,255 new jobs, the department said, noting that the information and communication technology sector drew most of the pledged investments, followed by tourism and service sectors. Xinhua
