Two more individuals arrested on fake rescue scam

Two more individuals have been arrested in connection with a “fake rescue” scam in the mountaineering sector.

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has arrested 28-year-old Sandeep Tiwari, a representative of Royal Holidays Adventure and Travel Company located in Thamel, and 56-year-old Rajendra Bahadur Singh, former vice president of the Aircraft Operators’ Association of Nepal.

Singh, a resident of Ward No. 31 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, was arrested today, while Tiwari, from Ward No. 2 of Jwalamukhi Rural Municipality in Dhading, was arrested on Tuesday.

According to CIB spokesperson Shiv Kumar Shrestha, a total of nine people have been arrested so far in connection with the offense. Those arrested include individuals involved from trekking companies, rescue companies, hospitals, Nepal-based staff of foreign insurance companies, and shareholder operators of helicopter companies.
